Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club Review
The Hard Rock is best known as the company that embraced rock 'n' roll as its concept with memorabilia that was actually used by music icons strung throughout its worldwide locations.
The fact that the Hard Rock was developed around a musical genre that completely reshaped the music scene in the '50s and '60s shouldn't be overlooked because the Hard Rock Hotel has always been at the forefront of changing scenes. The HRH struck gold when it introduced the first pool club, Rehab, a concept that brought a new wave of options for the party-hopping Las Vegas tourist and made daylife the new word in every nightlifer's vocabulary.
Well, if Rehab was gold, consider the HRH Beach Club platinum.
As part of a $750 million expansion, the HRH nearly doubled its pool area to about five acres to help accommodate the never-ending supply of hard-bodied beach lovers that flow into Las Vegas.
The first impression you get from the HRH Beach Club is that you have stumbled onto your own (along with a few hundred other people) private tropical lagoon. Immediately after entering the pool area, from its own entrance next to Vanity Nightclub, you overlook the entire beach club with rows of lounge chairs, daybeds and cabanas encircling three distinct pools that almost seamlessly blend into one another.
Dozens of palm trees add to the private-lagoon feel as they encompass the outlying area, extending their narrow shadows into the sandy beach of the first pool. The soft, dark sand flows under your feet as you take a dip in the water to momentarily escape from the scorching Vegas sun. Do all the beautiful people spread out around you still have you feeling a little hot? Then take your body temperature down a few notches in the plunge pool, which remains 20 degrees cooler than the main bodies of water, located in the middle of the three pools.
The third pool is more traditional if that suits you better, but it's just a jump away from either of the other two pools.
While HRH Beach Club feels much like Rehab (a similar pool layout, the 24 luxury cabanas are nearly identical, three swim-up blackjack tables and it even backs up to the popular Sunday hangout) it isn't quite as intense. But with a steady stream of parties and special performances it will get you primed for the rest of the weekend.
New this season is the space formerly known as SKYBAR, which has been handed over the to crowds at HRH Beach Club. Now guests will have access to an additional infinity pool, lounge area, bar and views of the Las Vegas Strip.
You also have the benefit of the HRH Beach Club Bar & Grill at your disposal without ever having to worry about losing the hottie you just met up with. The lounge, located just to the side of the pool area, offers a little reprieve from the sun, but brings in just enough of it through three cutouts in the floor of SKYBAR's infinity pool above that act as skylights. The menu options include breakfast fare (if you're up that early) such as breakfast burritos and fresh fruit as well as sushi, iced grapes and strawberries and of course the perfect tropical drink, the Mai Tai One On.
If the Bar & Grill is much farther than your party-weary body will travel, a bikini-clad waitress will more than happily help you out with any of your food and beverage needs.
For those wanting to stay near the Beach Club at all times, there are eight two-story Spa Villas in the new all-suite HRH Tower complete with their own plunge pool and private access to the Beach Club. If you're really looking to unwind at the HRH Beach Club, you can experience a soothing Swedish or Ancient Cane massage beach side.
While Rehab continues to be a staple in the daylife scene, the HRH Beach Club will give you a break from the dizzying club scene with a place to unwind, even if it's only for a moment.
